WordPress: Contact Form 7 – IP Logging

posted in: WordPress | 0

I installed the Contact Form 7 plugin on a client’s site and they were having trouble with a certain email “Spammer” that would use multiple aliases, phone numbers and email addresses.  They were fairly sure that most of these negative emails were coming from the same mischievous person, but couldn’t prove it. They asked me if there was a way to capture the IP of the sender in the email sent.

Add the following short code to your Contact Form 7 Mail Message Body Text Area to receive the sender’s IP address along with the email:

1
[wpcf7.remote_ip]

You can then use WordPress Ban System or alternative to banish them from your site altogether.

WordPress Rocks! If you can dream it, I can create it!
